Lesson 12 - The Particles That Make It All Clear - the 'Also' Particle
Hey everyone!
Here we are again with another grammar post, and once again it is about Korean Particles (for the other particles, check here).
Today we’re going to talk about the possessive particle -도. It's a pretty easy one, so it’s going to be a very short post compared to the others.
How does this particle work? Easy. You add it to nouns or grammar patterns and it will have the meaning of ‘also’ or ‘too’. There's no difference in consonant-ending or vowel-ending words, the particle doesn’t change.
Let's look at some examples:
나도 괜찮아요
I’m fine, too.
오늘 내 친구하고 만났어요. 내일도 그들하고 시간을 보낼 거예요
I met with a friend today. I'm going to hang out with them tomorrow, too.
공원에서도 달리기를 하러 갈 수 있죠
You can go for a run in the park, too.
아무도 없어요
There's no one.
You might also find two -도 in a sentence, that will have the meaning of ‘both... and’.
그녀는 대학원생도 대학생도 가르쳐요
She teaches both graduate and university students.
내가 수학도 문학도 공부해
I study both maths and literature
